Out of the blue

I came across a chihuahua who needed a home and just went for it and took him in. I didn’t know my heart could be stolen so fully so quickly. This little dude is so funny, he has super short legs and a tiny nose, and he makes this very odd noise instead of a bark, more like a squeal. With his stumpy legs he can’t jump up on the couch though he tries ever so hard. I plan on posting a video as soon as I get a one. At 8 inches tall and weighing in at 3.25 lbs.... meet Bob!!!!!!!

Vintage Vanity

My man picked up this super adorable vintage vanity for me at a thrift store a few weeks back. He’s real sweet like that. He’s going to re finished it so it’s ready for me to paint it. Of course that leaves my head swimming with ideas.

I’m trying to decide what color to paint it, black, pink? I have so many ideas. I could do stripes or stars or some glitter. I could do baby blue and lilac. Or bright pink like my hair.  Luckily for me it’s in really good shape. If you have any ideas for me leave a comment.

What can I say

I’m trying my best to actually use my blog. I’ve said that before but I’m gonna do it this time. I swear. What do you guys want to read about on my very random blogger? ;P hahaha old school emojis are just better. Ask me anything; I will write about it. Really anything.

I still have pink hair. I’ve gone other colors but I always go back to pink. I’m drawing most days which is super fun. Still making jewelry and toys. I’m also still staying with my Rents (yeah I’m all old school today) so I don’t get to take the kinds of photos I’d like to. I have very little privacy. I’m buying a house soon, I’m ready to, I just have to take care of some health issues first.

Love,
 Erina

Erina in Wonderland

Yesterday I mentioned my little obsession with Alice in Womderland. I remember when I was little my dad took me to see it in a real live movie theater. That one experience made me fall in love with Alice. I definitely collect Alice toys, books, and all kinds of things. More on those later. Today I want to show you a few of my favorite Alice clothes. Most of these are from Torrid but of course also hot topic and Lularoe.

The dress is my pride Alice piece of clothing. It’s from torrid and it is made of soft scuba material. I used to use polyvore to keep my closet, ie pictures of my real clothes and accessories. Then polyvore just disappeared one day and I lost my favorite past time and all my pics. Yes I could have downloaded my pics and they gave us time to download but at the time I didn’t own a computer and was unable to use my phone to do the download. Right now I am doing a board on my pintrist where I save pics I find online of clothes I actually own. Yes I need to do pics of me in the clothes but that will come later. I make pic collages of outfit sets but it’s not the same thing as polyvore was. Polyvore made my sets look so much cuter. I haven’t found any apps like polyvore again sadly. I need to be able to download my own collected pics onto any app I’d use and that’s a feature that seems to not exist.

This is a set I made with some of the Alice clothes. Yes I actually own all of these things, not the center square because it’s just cute art. The purse is one of my faves a vintage box purse. The nail polish is from the OPI Alice collection and the boots are torrid. I had to put insoles inside to make them more comfortable but otherwise I love them. Torrid shoes are pretty wide though, FYI.  Here is the link to my wardrobe board on pinttrist.

Plus Size Leggings

I got these leggings from Torrid the other day, size 3. I love torrid, almost all of my clothes are from torrid. I love Torrid jeans, dresses, tops, bras and panties. I even have shoes and bags I like from them. Their leggings suck. I have had about a dozen pairs, hopeful with each purchase that the cute print will lead to quality leggings. No such luck. The waist bands are awful elastic both the thinner and thicker tops.

These are not my pictures, I found them on Pinterest and made a quick collage. I do own all of these leggings from torrid. They are all very different. The Ariel ones are a scuba material which is cute and comfortable but the elastic waist is always too tight and makes a big dent roll in my tummy which I hate. The skull ones are cotton but still have this weird sewn in elastic waist that just cuts me in the middle and makes two big rolls. I hate it. The last pair are copper foiled leggings and not only do they have this elastic waist band that even in the size 3 22/24 leggings cuts me in half and looks stupid. I wear an 18 most of the time so you would think on a size 22/24 the waist band would fit me. No such luck plus the ankles and knees are to loose. As for the foil ones, the first time I wore them the foil started to wear off between my legs, and on the butt. They shed all over my car and my therapists couch. Shedding anything on your therapists couch is ridiculous. When I leave pink hair, nail polish from me picking at my nails or in this case little pieces of copper foil, I feel so gross. It’s therapy I don’t want to leave tiny parts of me on the couch. My main complaint about Torrid leggings is the elastic waist. So I went out in search of something better. A legging that would actually flatter my shape. It took a while. I have tried leggings from China that are a size 6xl and are still too small. I have tried lame Bryant, way to expensive! I have even tried sporty leggings from Kohl’s but they are never cute. Where could I find cute prints on flattering leggings that are comfortable to wear?

Then I found Lularoe. I ordered a few pairs of their TC and TC2 leggings. I am in love. Both sizes fit like a dream. The TC2 are my fave because I like my leggings to run a little big. Lularoe has amazing prints like my favorite Disney movie Alice in Wonderland.

The waist band on the Lularoe leggings is more like a yoga waist, but the crotches are serged with a quality that I can tell will last. No more being cut in half with two tummy rolls on either side of some crappy elastic. The prints I find on the Lularoe leggings are on par with anything Torrid has to offer. Plus, Lularoe leggings are buttery soft and don’t shed. I don’t sell Lularoe and won’t make money from this post this is just my opinion. I am in love with Lularoe leggings. I found the Alice printed ones on eBay and the black ones too. I paid about $19 for each plain black pair and around $26 each for the Alice prints. Did I mention the cute prints.

This is the print from my favorite pair of Lularoe leggings. The flower scene is my favorite part from Alice. I actually squealed out loud when I first saw them. I collect Alice in Womderland clothes. More on that next time.

In the pink

I posted a long time ago, but just a few posts back about my pink hair and my very first try at crazy colored hair. I wanted to share some pics of my pink hair from the over a year that I had pink hair. I loved my pink hair. To get my dark brunette hair to be this shocking bright pink I had to bleach it three times. I am learning how to do this whole hair dying thing, so please don't do what I did, I am sure it wasn't good for my hair. I used a 30 toner a blue or violet bleach plus manic panic hot hot pink dye. Right now I am working on coloring my hair a very dark green.

Life in pink

I've finally, after years of lusting after it, dyed my hair PINK. I can not believe I waited so long. If you are on the fence about going pink, don't wait one more second. I was so scared I would hate it, or that it would be too hard or that my hair would fall out, or that it would look too fake, I had like a million reasons to not do it. Then I did it and I am so happy and in love with my hair. No it's not perfect, and sure I could have gone to a professional and paid a small fortune, but in the end, I like it because I did it. Me. It's pink, and I made it pink.

I want to share my experience with having and maintaining and getting pink hair. I first had planned to dye my hair pink starting about 4 inches past my roots. I wanted to have a look similar to this.

I ended up with this.

Which is close kinda, but wasn't doing it for me. It was too peachy. For this first attempt my hair was bleached twice with Loreal Blue 30 bleach and then dyed with Ion, flamingo and rose. When I took those pictures I had a ton of Coconut Oil in my hair.

Big big news

I'm engaged!!! I'm the happiest girl in the world and so very in love. It hasn't always been the easiest road that is for sure, but it's been a fun ride.  This all happened about a month ago and I can still hardly believe it or stop staring at my ring. Every time I catch it's unique sparkle out of the corner of my eye I can't help but stare at it. It is perfect. I knew fiancée was perfect for me when he showed me this ring. My man knows me and he knows not pop the question with out the ring of my dreams so I got to see it before he bought it.  I am a happy girl I tell you what.  The ring is from https://www.etsy.com/shop/MysticTopazJewelry and I suggest stopping by their shop if you are looking for something super special.

Still loving Kawaii Box co

Last month was my first experience with the monthly subscription kawaii box. www.kawaiiboxco.com and it was quite lovely. This month I was blown away by the contents of my box. My most favorite thing was the plushy bunny pencil or make up case. I also loved the heart shaped rhinestones. If you have not checked out this subscription box please do, I promise you won't be disappointed. Check out my pics.

So super kawaii.

Mind Enrichments

On Sunday my sister and took our daughters to the local Art Museum to grow their brains a bit. We live near the wonderful Columbus Museum of Art. A new wing with a new modern art exhibit just opened last month. I loved that the museum has added lots of interactive activities. I think the girls had a really good time. I like the idea of our weekend outings being fun and either offer exercise; which releases endorphins that help stave off depression or are educational; so that I can grow my kids brains big and strong. This one hit both marks if you count the walking.

Welcome little Galaxy

Tomorrow is my birthday and my amazing family and especially my baby sister surprised me with the best gift ever. A little baby girl Chihuahua who I have named Galaxy. My female Chihuahua Gwenivere is 15 now and so my family thought it would be time for a new puppy to join our family. I forgot how much work potty training a new puppy is, but I'm enjoying having someone to care for. I am sure pictures are the most important part of this post so allow me to spam you.

Isn't she a cutie. I am completely in love. Expect many updates on her.

Tokidoki Collecting

I have been collecting tokidoki for the past 10 years. It began with a lesportsac bag my Sis brought me home from a trip to Las Vegas. It quickly developed into an obsession of toys, clothes, jewelry, hair stuffs, plushies and anything else I could find. Tokidoki is the art of an amazingly talented man named Simone Leguno, you can find out so much more at www.tokidoki.it  Usually because I am not infinitely wealthy I sell off parts of this collection to add new pieces I can't live with out. Mostly this is with my bags, but, that works out because then I always have a new bag to carry. With the toys I buy what I love ans skip the rest. Today I stopped into Claire's to pick up some of the new blind bags by Neon Star. Most likely these will get turned into jewelry.

They are about 2 inches in size and soooo cute. Their are 4 in this series and I pulled 5 today so I think that's pretty awesome. You can also buy these at www.tokidoki.it

Kawaii Box Review

Have you heard of these subscription box thingies? It's like a mystery box that shows up at your house with stuff in it, usually stuff you like, in categories you pick. Their are tons of companies who sell these boxes. The site www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com has info on lots of subscription services, with reviews, coupons and spoilers. I decided I really wanted to sign up for one of these boxes and when I came across kawaii box co. I knew it was the monthly box service for me. The site is www.kawaiibox.com and the price point is just under $20 a month, with discounts for ordering more than one month at a time. I received the September box during the first week of October. Inside their were cute and fun goodies.

I definitely had a smile on face as soon as I opened the box. Lots of colors and a nice variety of kawaii items.  I did think the price point was right on, I could not order this much cute stuff online for this price, in fact I don't think I could but this much cute stuff at my local Japanese market for less than $20. My favorite item was definitely the makeup bag, tho the bending neck bunny pen was pretty awesome.  I think I will continue with this subscription for a while, just receiving it made my day.

Kawaii Tiny Price

Sounds good, doesn't it? Kawaii stuffs at super low prices, all the cute none of the needing to pay with a platinum card you keep in your louis vuitton wallet.  I am a big fan of all of us in the scene getting to own some Japanese inspired goodness no matter our financial situation. So I've added a section to my shop, www.gloomybunny.com, called Kawaii Tiny Price and today in that section I have added 10 cute necklaces for $4 each + shipping. Below is a picture of some of them. Don't let them slip away.

My shiny new business cards

I ordered these from Vista Print, I guess I've always used them. Once or twice I ordered from Moo but they are really expensive for overly fancy cards. Oh boy. Who cares. So I got these they are glossy which I like. I think they are nifty and cute. Anyway I'm super excited. This is my second etsy shop, I ran one before but went through some serious pain and life falling apart stuff and I closed up for a few years. I'm happy to be back to doing what I love. Making cute stuff from toys.

Thanks for stopping by,

I'm new here

Hi my name is Erina and this is my first post on www.gloomyerina.com I plan on writing about all kinds of things I love. I love a lot of stuff. I love painting my nails, collecting toys, making jewelry, wearing dresses, playing with dolls and of course most of all my family. I love so many things about Japanese culture like harajuku street style and cute mascot characters and bento boxes to name a few. On my blog you will begin to find my take on all of these kinds of things and so much more. I hope you will stay tuned.

Today I am writing about some new nail polishes I picked up and tried out yesterday. The two colors are OPI Comet in the Sky from their new Holiday collection with Gwen Stefani and OPI  Snowglobetrotter. I love love love glitter polishes, mostly because it's way harder to see mistakes like air bubbles, smudges or chips with a clear glitter polish. I'm not all that great at painting my nails or at least I am such a perfectionist even the slightest mistake is all I can see on my entire manicure.

Snow Globe Trotter is the front one. It goes on very smoothly
and has iridescent and white glitter. Comet In The Sky has a very thin smooth formula and layers well. I used 4 coats of each plus base and top coats and it dried nicely and not too think. I love Snow Globe Trotter best.

What do you think? I think next time I will put some gray polish behind the Comet In The Sky.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by.
